This collection consists of deconstructed African portraits where each piece serves as a powerful symbol, challenging societal norms by celebrating features often deemed unconventional on Black individuals—boldly emphasizing large lips, long eyelashes, and strong cheekbones. Throughout history, societal narratives have often depicted the Black community with distorted portrayals, perpetuating stereotypes of the angry Black woman and distorting our image in the media. My intention is to illuminate the timeless radiance of our beauty that effortlessly captivates, defying conventional expectations.
